Premiere: February 9, 2003 at Kilbourn Hall, Eastman School of Music (Rochester, New York). John Graham, viola; Red Wierenga, organ; Melanie Sehman & AJ Lustig, percussion.

Commission: by the Barlow Endowment for Musical Composition at Brigham Young University for John Graham.

Instrumentation: viola, two percussionists, Hammond B3 organ (digital patch is ok.)

Percussion 1: snare drum, 3 congas, 2 bongos, marimba, 3 woodblocks, vibraphone, 2 octaves of crotales.

Percussion 2: bass drum, vibraphone, 4 timpani, 5 woodblocks, 2 octaves of crotales.

NB: the woodblocks, vibraphones, and crotales are required for each player and cannot be shared.
