Percussion Quartet (2009)

Commission: Percussion Quartet was commissioned by and dedicated to Third Coast Percussion (Owen Clay Condon, Robert Dillon, Peter Martin, David Skidmore). Underwritten by the American Composers Forum with funds provided by the Jerome Foundation. Additional support in the form of an artist residency provided by the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center

Instrumentation: Four percussionists

Percussion 1: Marimba (5 octaves); 2 Bongos, 1 Tom-tom, Bass Drum; 2 Woodblocks; 2 Wood Boards; 3 Triangles; Low Resonant Piece of Metal; Break Drum

Percussion 2: 2 Bongos, 2 Congas, 1 Tom-tom,1 Kick Bass Drum; 2 Woodblocks, 2 Wood Boards, 3 Claves, 4 Gongs, Tam-tam

Percussion 3: Marimba (4.3 Octaves+), 2 Bongos, 1 Tom-tom, Bass Drum, 2 Woodblocks, 5 Temple Blocks, 2 Wood Boards, 7 Wood Boards, Crotales (2 Octaves)

Percussion 4: Vibraphone, 2 Bongos, 2 Congas, 1 Tom-tom, 1 Kick Bass Drum, 2 Woodblocks, 2 Wood Boards, 2 Metal Bars

Premiere: December 15, 2009 at the Chopin Theater (Chicago, Illinois) Third Coast Percussion.
